Button not working properly

Over the past couple of weeks the button on my One is not working reliably. Everything else is fine, it's still syncing and recording steps/floors properly.  I use the button to start/stop the sleep function and also to record specific walks.  I've been having to take it out of the clip, press it several times and much harder than usual to get it to respond with that reassuring pulse.  This morning I almost gave up trying and envisaged being in constant sleep mode forever!  Happily it finally (after dozens of attempts) decided to cooperate.  Going forward I'm not too bothered about trying to record my sleep, but I'd be sad to give up recording my walks.  I don't want a wrist tracker or anything that doesn't record floors as well as steps so if this is the beginning of the end (after 7 years) I'll be very sad ... 😭

Does anyone have any experience of the same problem or any ideas on how I might fix it?

@fiftyeight   Unfortunately, I think the mechanics of your button are just plain worn out.  Especially the part about dozens of attempts to get it to work.  I think you need to give up your sleep and walk records if you want to continue to use your One.  It's really disappointing that Fitbit took the altimeter out of the Inspire series.  The moderators love to say that Fitbit is constantly trying to improve its products.  Fitbit didn't listen to their loyal users with that decision.

Thanks for your reply LZeeW - you've confirmed what I was suspecting. 😞  I'll just have to hope the other features keep working as long as possible. I wonder what's the oldest still working One ...

@fiftyeight   I bought my One in Oct 2013.  I used to switch between my One and other older wrist trackers when I wanted a dressier watch.  I still have my One, but stopped using it when Fitbit updated to Active Zone Minutes.  I recently charged it and put it back on my account just to check on its battery performance.  It still works.  I don't think my experience "counts" because it isn't continuous use.  I can see from your profile that you joined in 2015.  All rechargeable batteries have a lifespan, reported to be 3-5 years.  You certainly got bonus time from yours.
