Did Fitbit's app update kill my One?

My Fitbit One was fine in early October.  Then there was an app update.  Suddenly my One's battery lasted two or three days at most. The only thing that made sense was the app was constantly trying to synch with my One.  So I eventually turned off my Bluetooth (rather inconvenient since I use it for other devices).  That seemed to solve the problem and it was back to working for a week or longer.  But I need the Bluetooth.  So I turned it back on.  Voila... battery drained in less than tree days.  I charged it on Thursday, again on Monday night.  This evening it is DEAD.  Completely dead.  Plugging it into the cable and attempting to charge it achieves nothing.  The screen is dead.  Dead.

What the heck?  I see nothing in the Fitbit inventory that is in the least bit appealing these days.  So I am what, at the end of my Fitbit relationship?  I don't want a wrist watch type of tracker (they register phantom steps when you move your wrists!).  I want a tiny, useful tracker that I can put in my pocket.  Anyone have any suggestions?  I have nearly 29 million steps.  I really don;t want to switch to another company.  This is my third tracker with Fitbit.  The two previous ones failed but I replaced the original device with a One and then when that failed got another One.  Now they are no longer offered.

The Inspire (not HR) can be worn the same way. Fitbit sells a separate holder to clip it on.

When I went to put my One in sleep mode last night it was dead, so I have it on the charger now  and hoping it comes back to life. I have a Charge 3, second one, first one died after a few months and who knows how long this one will last. I

I've had this One for a long time, sad to see it go.

Yes, but the Inspire does not count flights of stairs like the One does.

@wmwchris I had that once before, I'd held the button for 10 seconds, and while still holding it put it in the charger and it lit up and charged. That was years ago, I've since had to replace my battery, but when the one battery dies it still lights up in the charger. You can use mobile sync (fitbit.com/devices) to use your phone for tracking without a watch. Cheers!
