Firmware Update Won't Complete

Hi, I just bought a new-in-box Fitbit One. I added it to my account and I'm doing a replace from the old Fitbit One. I have the old one far away and I put an aluminum pan over it to act like a makeshift Faraday cage to block the signal. I'm doing the firmware update on the new one from the app. It connects to the  new Fitbit and I input the 4-digit code in the app from the Fitbit. The unit is fully charged [battery meter is full and the app says it's fully charged]. However, nothing comes on the screen if it's not in the charger. The firmware update tries for a minute, then it says, "Something went wrong. There was an error while trying to update your device." What else can I check or try? Thanks!

@SunsetRunner   I noticed that you said that you just bought a NIB Fitbit One.  Unfortunately, I found out the hard way that since Fitbit hasn't manufactured these devices for several years (2017?), and they use a rechargeable battery, they will go dead if left to sit in a package.  If your device appears to charge and shows the full battery icon and the firmware version while on the charger, but nothing happens when you remove it from the charger, even if you press the button or try the reset function, it is highly likely that your battery is dead.  I posted a thread on here about six weeks ago asking for advice, and was able to successfully get the battery replaced for the NIB Fitbit One that I purchased as a backup unit when Fitbit announced it was discontinuing the One.  Here is a link to my thread:  https://community.fitbit.com/t5/One/Need-advice-for-two-Fitbit-One-devices/td-p/4967640/jump-to/first-unread-message

Williger and several other users were very helpful to me.  If you just bought this One, I hope you can return it for your money back or a replacement.  If not, replacing the battery does work.  Mine is now getting about 2 1/2 weeks per charge.

Hope this helps!  😊

It may need a battery transplant. See the YouTube videos, it is not to hard and if needed find someonegwhohcan solder.
