Fitbit One Active Minutes Inaccurate: Too High!!

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.
I've had my Fitbit one a little over a year and I've noticed in the last several weeks that my active minutes count has been a bit high each day, somewhere between 15-20 mins more than I actually exercised. Why is this?

Also, when it syncs with myfitnessPal it impacts how many "exercise calories" MFP allows me because it thinks I've had a lot more activity than I have based on active minutes.

Have you changed where you are wearing it?  The One is designed to work best when clipped next to the torso.  A lot of women clip it to their bra.  Waist band works well too.  I usually have it in my front pocket. but that exaggerates activity a little bit compared to my waist band.

Also, active minutes are recorded if you do 3X your MET for 10 minutes or more.  One MET is a body at rest. 3 METs isn't really that much and you may get there by walking purposfully for at least 10 minutes.

Hope this helps.  Let us know.

Thanks for your reply. I do put my Fitbit on my shoe when I do my cycling class, which is only once per week and what I did today. I did about 50 minutes today but My active minutes said 65. And then I did 35 minutes on the treadmill walking briskly and my total active minutes jumped to 110! I typically wear my Fitbit clipped into my bra/sports bra but even on non-cycling days I've seen a spike in active minutes, so wondering why that would be..?

Wearing the Fitbit on your shoe gets 2x-3x the calorie counts.  Don't ever do that!!!!

But you get active minutes now from brisk walking.  It really shouldn't change your calorie count on MFP or anywhere--Fitbit should override MFP's calories.
