Fitbit One Life Span

Does the Fitbit One have a life span?  I've had mine for almost 3 years and I have worn everyday since I got it.  I've never had an issue with my fitbit, it's always synced ok, woken me in the morning with it's vibrating alarm and always counted steps.

However in the last few weeks, I've had to restart it 4 times as it's refused to sync, and I don't belive it's counting all my steps correctly.  Generally it's been playing up a little.

I wondered if anyone else has had simular issues when their One is getting old?

Thanks

Mine's coming up to 3 years too and, like you, have been trouble free. I guess their lifetime must be limited to some degree given what they go through and there are certainly posts where they haven't lasted as long as ours. It'll be interesting to see further responses to this.

You are doing the right thing to restart it when it plays and, at the end of the day, it's all we can do. Hopefully yours is just going through a rough patch and will perk up.

Just seams a little strange, I've never had any problems with it, however all of a sudden it's playing up. I walked 5 miles the other day and it only logged 3!

I'm sure that they have a life span, just wondered what others had experienced?

I envy you. My fitbit One is 2 months old and I have everyday issues with syncing since April- first month perfect!

I'm coming up on three years, too.  I've replaced the holder one time and I wear it 24/7 unless I'm in the shower or in a pool/hot tub.  I've had no problems with it.  Sometimes, it won't sync with my phone, but it always syncs with my computer.

I'm with Wendy.  When this wears out, I'll get another One.

@Fizzwig I'm the same as others, 3+ years and if/when it fails I will purchase another. My Ultra is now 4+ years, battered a little, but like the One is accurate and keeps the charge. Both worn 16/7 days in waking hours.

I would suggest you send an email to Support and see if they can throw any light on your issues.

Thank you all for your comments.

I have emailed support to find out what their thoughts are.  I suspect though, that my well used One is nearing the end of it's life and it maybe time to get another. 😞

I will update when I geta reply from Fitbit.

You should speak to customer support on live chat. Mine was playing up and after a short conversation it can be replaced. You dont even need a receipt!

I too have had my ONE since Dec 2012 and wear it all the time .  I have had very few problems with it until NOW.

It has occasionally not snyced with one of my devices, but now I cannont get it to sync with my  anrdoid phone, my iPad or my Mac since Saturday .  When I force a sync it says it found the One, but no data comes over.     Phone & iPad can't even find it.     Just so annoyed.

A little update.

I contacted Customer Support and asked what the lifespan of my fitbit was as it's been playing up of late, explained what has been happening etc and they were brilliant.

They had a look at my account and checked my data and said that they can see some differences in my activity levels etc.  They agreed that something is not quite right with my One and, this morning a parcel arrived from Fitbit with a brand new replacement!

Fab customer service and I certainly wasn't expecting them to replace my old One...

I'm a very happy fitbit user  🙂

Fitbit's customer service is phanomonial. I'm on my second One. The first the screen decided that it much rather not display anything. A little email corrospondance and they got me a new one! I'm very happy with them, and that's why I recommend them to people looking at a tracker.

Today I lost the little tip on my ONE rubber holder, this is the third holder I've had since I bought the ONE in 2011. I've decided to NOT order another one as the cost is $14.95 plus S/H of like $7.95. Getting too costly and sadly I love my ONE. My budget doesn't have room for the ongoing expense. I've also replaced the wrist band at least twice. The ONE itself has never given me any problems.

@Sally46 there are much cheaper 3rd party holders for the One available on the market. I've found that they are not as good as the fitbit original but it may be an option to consider.

We're you charged for the replacement?

I never called customer support. Whenever the rubber holder had something that broke I went online and ordered a new one. Same with the wrist band to hold the ONE when sleeping. I'm done shelling out money for replacements. If the ONE still works flawlessly, I'm not happy with being nickeled and dined over accessories to us it.

Mine is also about 3 years old. Maybe a couple months over and it just died. If plugged in, I see Fitbit 6.60 when I hold the button in. Then it shows a full battery & goes dark after about 6 seconds. Multiple resets haven't helped.

I better knock on wood as my ONE is four years and eight months old. No problems with it receiving or holding a charge. My screen is pretty well scratched up. But the holder, my third, is useless. Sally
