Fitbit One Not Connecting to Phone

ANSWERED

My Fitbit One, purchased Feb. 2017, no longer correctly counts floors or steps. It connected via Bluetooth to my old Samsung S7 telephone but refuses to connect to either the new Samsung S7 and to my Samsung Tablette Galaxy S2.

I would like to replace Fitbit One but apparently Fitbit no longer offers One in their catalog. I do not like wearing bracelets; I sometimes wear my wristwatch when I go out but it often ends up in my handbag. I want a sports monitor to count steps, count floors, show the time, monitor sleep, display calories spent.

What I like about the One: compact, discrete, vibrates when sleep monitor is started/stopped;

What I do not like about One: the clip is too tight for pocket of winter jeans, if I loosen it, then there is a risk of losing it with lightweight summer clothes; irritating messages – does someone go around with their nose to their One?

I would prefer a Fitbit to keep my account up to date. The least disagreeable bracelet appears to be Fitbit Flex2 – except it doesn’t display time and what is the point of an electronic bracelet if it doesn’t give the time! Would the Flex2 fit into the One clip? A necklace would be jangling around as one does cardio or get in the way when lifting weights.

Thanks for any input.

I seriously doubt the One charger would ever work with the Flex 2.

All the chargers are different and they only work with the device they came with

@retiree67 Welcome to the Fitbit Community! Thanks for reporting the situation you are experiencing with One no tracking data correctly and not connecting to your phone.

By any chance, have you tried performing a restart on your One? That should certainly help you out if it is not tracking data correctly.

You can also try these syncing troubleshooting steps if it is not connecting to your phone. If this doesn't work, try syncing with a computer instead.

If non of that works, please contact customer support for further assistance. Let me know if you need help with that.

Please check this thread about Fitbit One Alternatives. Also, each Fitbit device charger is unique.

@WendyB @JohnnCon Thanks for your help on this thread.

Thank you for your reply. A post in the Fitbit forum suggested resetting the One (One in charger, hold down button for 10-12 seconds) three times in a row. Tried it, still no connection via Bluetooth to telephone. In the past, efforts to connect to Samsung Galaxy S2 tablette via Bluetooth would show a message "connection refused by One".This message no longer appears. The Galaxy and the telephone can detect the One but no connection via Bluetooth occurs.

My data is uploaded from One to Fitbit account via the dongle on the PC. The advantage for me of Bluetooth is when traveling and away from the PC, I can upload data via Bluetooth on the telephone or tablette.

I have been using a One since May 2013; it is by far the best Fitbit for my purposes but I am giving up on the One, have ordered Flex2.

Condolences on the loss of your one.

I've been looking at what I might use to replace my One when it dies (IF I
replace it).

Please let the Community Forum know about your experience with the Flex 2;
that is if the monitors don't prohibit talking about the Flex on the One
board.

@retiree67 Thanks for your reply and for providing those details. Also, thanks for trying those steps to sort this out.

I was checking the list of supported devices and the Samsung Galaxy S2 is not showing there. This is the reason why it is not connecting properly. However, I'm glad it is working properly on your computer.

Thanks for your feedback on the One, it is a great device! I'm also glad to read that you ordered a Flex 2. It is a great tracker too. I'm sure you will enjoy using it. Please let me know how it goes once you get it!

@JohnnCon I hope you're doing great! You can talk about the Flex 2, it is a great device. You can also check the Flex 2 Board for more details.

Hello,
I am very disappointed by Flex2.
- It does not register floors. I live in a 3-story house in hill country, I
average 20 or more floors a day. Effectively, the technical description
does not mention 'floors' but it never occured to me that this activity
would not be included on a fitness monitor!!
- Data are only displayed on a smartphone. I don't usually carry my phone
when out walking (it weighs 200 gm, like lead in the pocket!). It is
irritating to have to turn on the phone in order to check if I need to
increase my distance when I am out for a walk.
-- Flex2 is supposed to vibrate when restarting the tracker or other
manipulations but this feature does not work on mine.
- The bracelet is difficult to put on & take off. The material is very
stiff and the clasp not easy to align with the holes. Once aligned, takes a
lot of force to get the clasp into the holes. This is new bracelet; will
see if this resolves in time. Or becomes so floppy that the bracelet is
easy to lose.
- Fitbit One was on 24/7 but the battery lasted 10 days or more. Flex2
arrived a few days ago but I already have had to charge it up twice.

I am 76 years old, my goal is to maintain my level of fitness for as long
as possible. Fitbit One in my pocket was all I needed to remind me to go up
x more floors or to walk x more meters to reach my daily goals with the
added advantage of indicating the time, If I knew how, I would start a
petition addressed to Fitbit to bring back the One!

retiree67 -

It should not come as any surprise that many One users feel your pain.

The fact that the One has been "discontinued" has sent shock waves through
the community. Trying to get through to the powers that be to reconsider
also seems to be futile. So we go through other attempts to recreate the
capabilities of the One. Some, myself included, had some hope in other
Fitbit devices. Had some hope.

So, before the monitors take down my reply to you, may I share your comment
with my Facebook page: Fitbit One users discussion group?

I have a Flex 2 and  Fitbit One and I 100% prefer my One. I only got the Flex 2 because it is waterproof and I can wear it to the pool and kayaking in the summer. Flex 2 is in no way a replacement for the One. 😞
