Fitbit One continuous connect

Hi folks, quick question about the One that I can't seem to find an answer for.

I just upgraded to the One from the Zip and have noticed that the one connects and stays connected after it syncs. The Zip would sync then disconnect. I prefer to manually sync but don't seem to be able to with the One. If the app is open and Bluetooth is on it is a constant connect. If I walk I see my steps in the app count real time..

I have both all day sync and always connected disabled. Is this normal?

Thanks for any input 🙂

That's not normal @GSaldiveri

Feel free to clear the Fitbit App cache in the phone settings. This clears the app cache from the phone and can restore such glitches*..

It can be required to reactivate / disable the all day sync settings.. so the setting is saved properly (due cleared the cache previously..)..

When the issue remains..

Also feel free to logout from the app / uninstall the app, restart the phone & reinstall the latest fitbit app freshly. Afterwards login to your Fitbit Account again.

Make sure internet is enabled (mobile or wifi) so the phone & account can stay in sync. (Disable internet if not needed to save battery on the phone).

* glitches can occur when installing new versions over existing installed apps or programs (on a computer), it's normally better to first uninstall the previous app / program then install the newest one to prevent, but it's easier to install a new version over a existing one (repeat x times).. and glitches can occur (like the app / program not working like it's designed to be).. due remnants of previous program versions..

Hope it helps

Thanks for the reply 🙂

Unfortunately, none of that works. I've reset the settings on the sync, cleared all data and cache, and have uninstalled and reinstalled the app. After doing any of these things I can get into the app with the bluetooth turned on and it seems to be ok, once I sync though it's back to constant connect. I get a status of Connected and to the right a wireless connect symbol (( . )) in blue.

Oh well lol, it's not really a big deal, I'll just have to remember to turn the app and or bluetooth off after I sync up.

Update - either it's a bug or a feature, can't tell yet, but my wife's One seems to be working the same way.

Hey @GSaldiveri very welcome to the Community and thank you @SunsetRunner those were great tips.

@GSaldiveri Your tracker syncs with the Fitbit app every time you open the app, or periodically throughout the day if you have all-day sync turned on. Some customers find that all-day sync causes the battery on their mobile device to drain too quickly. If this happens, you can disable all-day sync and also, your tracker syncs with Fitbit Connect every 15 minutes if it is near your computer and the wireless sync dongle is plugged in.

So, don't worry the syncing process is normal Smiley Happy Let me share with your this video https://youtu.be/a_KGhoIOLDw  which explains the syncing process a little bit more.

Hope this helps! Smiley Wink

LOL, Once again thanks for the response, I was trying to figure this out with Customer Service and haven't had any luck - this might help:

1 - Bluetooth on, Connected to a network, Open Fitbit app - Fitbit will sync - so far so good.

2 - I have All day sync and Always connected turned off.

3 - I am near no other bluetooth dongles.

Here is a screen shot:

If I walk I can see my steps count in real time. If I have it correct it should not do that because Ihave the Always connected turned off.

Smiley Very Happy thanks for the update @GSaldiveri and don't worry about the syncing process or the real time syncing, that is completely normal, you'll see this every time you have open the Fitbit app and also the Bluetooth On. Cat Embarassed The weird thing is that you have the all day sync and Always connected turned off. So, let me try to investigate this a little bit more and I let you know. Smiley Wink

Got a reply from customer service, apparently it's a feature and according to them all the devices except the Zip and one other that I can't remember now will do this.

I guess the all day sync and always connected switches are there for the 2 devices that don't sync continuously....
