Fitbit One ignoring my activity

Dear helpers,

I have been walking quite a lot lately (hiking in the mountain) and carrying my carefully charged Fitbit One in my waist-bag. Now I wanted to take a look at the results (how many floors, how many steps etc.) and realized that it didn't register any activity. Not only did no activity show on the weekly dashboard of my smartphone, but the device also ignored the steps I made today until I looked at it and pressed the button. I thought it was supposed to work all the time!

Many thanks for your guidance.

Best,

m.

It is suppose to work all the time.

Was it charged? I would do a restart just in case

How old is it? Could be dyeing  as well if its old
