Fitbit One shuts off when unplugged

So I have a One that is about 3 years old. It has worked fine until about 5 min ago. It was completely off and my last notification from Fitbit app was that battery was at medium. I plugged it in to charge and it popped up, the battery indicator immediately went from mid to full and then I unplugged it and it was dead. Plugged it back in and it came up. Unplugged it, dead. So it will only work when plugged into power. Could the battery have become disconnected internally. Is it just time to get a new Fitbit. Been eyeballing the Alta. Since I do crossfit, it's a little sad to only see 2k steps after a 30-45min grueling workout.

Hi, i'd try leaving it plugged in for a couple of hours and then giving it a restart .  Hopefully that will get it going again.  But these batteries do have a finite life -- they can only last so many deep discharge/recharge , so it is possible it is time to recycle your friend...  I've got my eye on the new Alta too!
