My fitbit one has started to give me inaccurate step counts. In the middle of the day, I might notice that I have, say, 3,000 steps, then in the evening, it's a lot lower, like 388 or so. The battery still seems to be charged. It's pretty old - can it just wear out? Or is there some kind of interior battery that needs to be replaced eventually?

I does wear out. The batteries can not be replaced. Mine is 3 years old and I except to to start failing soon.
I would check out the New Inspire with the clip. Looks just like the one. I does not have floors though.
You need to buy the Inspire WITHOUT Heart Rate as it wont fit the clip
But do contact support first as they do offer a Discount.

Thanks, Wendy. I do like the idea of the heart rate though....but also want stairs to count. Might go for the Charge 3, but I'm concerned that some people say it counts your arm movements even when you're sitting. Not good. I wonder if I could just tuck it in my pocket like the One?

@pbjelly1 Its your choice. The arm models do count some false steps
Cant answer the other question. I wear my fitbits as intended. But test and let us know!
