Hi -

  1. How many days' data can the One hold without overwriting?
  2. What happens if the battery on the One dies - is previous days' data lost?

Thanks,

Eliezer

Fitbits can hold 7 days of detailed data between syncs. If it goes unsynced for more than that it can also hold up to 30 days of data but only at a summary level. So, ideally you sync at least once per week.

When you do sync all the data is copied from your fitbit to the fitbit servers so that's always safe. If the battery runs very low it will effectively switch off and stop recording data but the data on it should be safe as there will still be a small amount of battery power left.

@SteveH, thanks for your reply!

You wrote:

"it can also hold up to 30 days of data but only at a summary level"

Does that mean the total number of steps taken in each of the 30 days?

Also, regarding what you wrote:

the data on it should be safe as there will still be a small amount of battery power left

Any idea about how many days that is?

Thanks,

Eliezer

I've not seen the summary level data but I think you are right, you get just the total for the day rather than the normal minute-by-minute data.

Sorry, but I don't know how long the battery holds any power after it automatically closes down. Hopefully someone else will post with more information on this.

The Fitbit Tech I spoke to also said the information would be held for 7 days, but mine is only holding two. I synced at 11am last Saturday and again at 2 pm yesterday (away on vacation), and only Friday and yesterday's information was recorded/synced. Is there anything special I need to do?

I only have 2 days of data, too. One of the missing days I had 22,000 steps (Disney World Epcot) and I really wanted those stats. 😞

I hear you - we were at the beach and between packing and leaving, arriving and unpacking, and then running on the beach that evening, I was around 26,000. From Saturday to Saturday I lost 5 days of information. Hope to hear from someone if there is any way to get that back, or at least to know how we need to sync to retrieve multiple days worth of information. Feeling your pain!
