How to calculate stride on a treadmill

I'm trying to calculate the stride for my wife on the tread mill but they seem off for .10 of a mile X 2 / 528 so for 97 at 3.5mph it coming out to 36in which seems a lot for a 5'2 111lb female.  Does anyone know the correct calculation to measue the stride on tghe treadmill?
