I want to replace Fitbit One

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I've had my One for over 5 years now and I absolutely love it, it does everything I need! But I am looking to replace it with a similar - clip on version. I can only find the Inspire which converts to a clip-on but doesnt count floors climbed, which is an important feature for me.

I do not want to wear a wrist band 24/7 - any suggestions?

@ALathome Within the Fitbit family of trackers, the non-HR inspire with clip is the only current offering which will fit your clip-on needs. They added the functionality of waterproofness for swimming with the loss of floor counting. I'm sticking with my One 😉 Cheers!

I don’t swim but I go up the stairs 20 plus times a day! Looks like I’ll have to stick with my One as well

It's incredible that Fitbit would discontinue the only tracker for people who don't care to buy into the fashion of wearing a clunky device on their wrist.  Why not at least keep that option open by continuing to manufacture the One? I don't get it.

I’m totally with you, my Fitbit one is dying but the stair counting is an important feature for me as well as I hike a lot. I’d rather not leave the Fitbit ecosystem but at the same time I don’t know about getting a watch. I’ve already tried to buy a Versa and it wouldn’t set up so it’s left me with a bit of doubt about spending a fortune on something that’s already proved to be a major hassle....

I just found my Fitbit one that I thought I lost last summer (found it in a pants pocket) and I was trying to charge it. It won't sync so I called customer support. Appears that since they don't support Fitbit Ulta anymore that I can no longer add it to my account. So be careful to keep yours working. I am upset since I can't use it and can't wear one on my wrist at work so a watch type is not an option. Sad.

@Jean1118 was it the Fitbit One or the Fitbit Ultra.

If it is the Ultra and sat for a year, I would be surprised if it still will stay on for any lean gtg of time. I loved making the flower grow.

The Ultra has to be 7-8 years old and well past the batteries life.

I purchased a new one on Amazon, for about 3 times the original cost of
my One, but I was able to set it up on the mobile app with no problem.

It was a Fitbit One, which was perfect for my needs.  I bought a new one
on Amazon for about 3 times the original price, and was able to set it
up with no problem on the phone app.  I did buy a cheaper one on eBay,
but the battery was dead and I sent it back for a refund before biting
the bullet and spending the extra cash for one that worked.  But I think
this is the end of the line for my Fitbit loyalty.  I bought in at the
beginning when they were a brand new outfit but they've apparently
outgrown me if they can't keep a simple belt or pocket tracker that
tracks steps, miles and stairs. The lower-end Inspire supposedly has a
belt clip but doesn't track stairs.

What is the advantage for stair counting? Especially when we know the problems that changes in air pressure can cause?

Of we look back the one tracker that was very popular was the Zip, no rechargeable battery and no stairs.

Different strokes for different folks, I guess.  I found the stair
tracker to be extremely accurate and I use it as part of my program.

I don't know about any advantages.

Why do people use fitness trackers at all?

They browse the data from time to time and that's about it right?

I've gone on mountain hikes and ended up with over 100 floors in a day.  Interesting to look at, which is about it.

Fitbit app. used to offer achievements for milestones but not seeing them any more.

I can use iPhone apps. like Map My Hike, which will record such hikes, show a map of your path and show how many feet or meters you climbed on that hike.

Again interesting data to look back at occasionally but not something which will in itself change your behavior like making you want to do more hikes.

So if we're accumulating data, why not track more than one kind of data?

BTW, steps from climbing is more of a workout than steps on flat land.

One of my major fitness efforts on holiday when I don’t have access to a gym is hillwalking. There is no question that steep climbing takes a lot more effort than walking on the flat so I tend to have a goal in mind for both. That’s why the altimeter is important to me (I often don’t carry my phone with me and I want to keep all my fitness data within the Fitbit system). I know sometimes you get duff readings when it’s windy but that happens relatively rarely where I live. So it’s totally worth it for me. Also encourages me to take the stairs at work, go to the loos on the floor upstairs or downstairs to get to 25 flights in an average day. Every little helps!

Everyone uses their trackers for different reasons. I for one don't use my phone for things like that. I used my tracker all the time, set goals, watched my progress, mapped my weight loss, etc. Was easy and I didn't just do it occasionally. I cannot wear a wrist type tracker at work so that is not an option for me. So I too will most likely be switching to a different type of tracker in the future.

@Jean1118 the Inspire has a clip mode and runs Fitbit OS making it way more advanced then the Fitbit One.

I've looked at Fitbit OS, can it be programmed to count floors?

The Fitbit OS has no problems counting floors, as long as their is the needed hardware.

As for stair counting, Fitbit has never used this data in any equation.

Not having stair counting doesn't change the fact that there is a lot of improvements in both hardware and firmware.

Hi GLMD

This is the advice I received from Fitbit support when I couldn't sync my
tracker a few years ago - it worked for me
