Interference with car when charging from accessory socket.

Something rather odd happened this morning. I was parked in my car, Seat Leon FR (ref. 1) - 2013 but substantially the same as in the link. I had the engine running and was listening to the DAB radio. I connected the FitBit One to it's USB lead, which in turn was plugged into a 12v adaptor fitted to the accessory socket. As soon as the conntection was made the audio volume changed to 0 (mute) and the controls for the radio were disabled. I decided to unplug the FitBit as there was no way to find out if any other systems were compromised. Has anyone else seen this kind of thing?

For non-EU readers, Seat is a brand of the Volkeswagen group (ref. 2).

Hi there @hrafnkel, good to see you around and let me start with saying you have a cool car. Surely this is an unexpected behavior and quite odd, but I would say its possible due to voltage output of your car and the acceptable charge input of the Fitbit One.

I recommend to charge the trackers using either a computer connected to a USB port or A UL-certified wall charger. Since the voltage output of the outlets are not that high. Although certainly this is the first time I heard something like this and it seems like a shortcut caused your radio were disabled.

Something similar happened to me but not using any tracker, only my 12V adaptor with my phone. It turns out it was defective and caused a shortcut on my car disabling my door's window.

Hope this helps and thank you for share this in our Community. Let me know if you have more questions.
