More Steps, but Fewer Calories Burned?

Yesterday I logged 17,373 steps but only burned 2058 calories. The previous day I logged only 14,025 steps and burned 2156 calories. Why did I walk more steps, but burn fewer calories? My floors and active minutes were also greater for the second day, but I still had fewer calories.  Thanks for your help.

Hi @LoveDisney16872. Your Fitbit One calculates the intensity of your walk minute-by-minute. So if you earned more calories with few steps one day, it has to be that you walked faster.

Yesterday I did 8800 steps, not greater than moderate intensity, 4.2 miles 56 active minutes 2880 calories

 

Today 10,000 steps, 1.5 miles intense, 4.7 miles, 77 active minutes, 2400 calories?

 

Can fitbit or another enthusiast explain much more exercise, many less calories?

I'm having a similar problem that I mentioned in another thread. I recently switched from the Fitbit Zip to the Fitbit One and I've noticed a a difference between how the Zip calculated my calorie burn and how the One calculates calories burned.

 

Using my Zip on May 9th:

Steps: 16,187

Calories Burned: 2568

 

 

Using my One on May 23rd:

Steps: 18,257

Calories Burned: 2444

 

Using my One on May 25:

Steps: 24,743 (I walked over 12 miles)

Calories Burned: 2574

 

I took over 2000 additional steps on May 23, but I earned 124 fewer calories.

 

On the 25th I took over 8000 additional steps than I took on the 10th, but according to my Fitbit One, I burned just 8 additional calories.

 

My workout on the 25th was actually more intense than the work out on the 9th. These results just make no sense to me.
