Hello there, @RikkiA! Welcome to the Forums! You have come to the right place.
As you said the auto sync and checking your display a little too much can cause the battery to drain faster. I suggest you to charge it just for 2 hours and not 8 hours, this is too much and can cause the battery issues. After you charge it for a couple of ours, do you see a full battery on your display? If you don't or if it drains too fast, please perform a restart on your tracker and then try again.
