New One won't hold a charge

I just got my first Fitbit on Saturday. I charged every chance I had that afternoon and evening and I still had a low charge at bedtime. I charged it when I got up on Sunday morning while I was getting ready for church. Before the morning was out, I was down to half. So, I left it on the charger all night last night (8+ hours). It held better today but was still already down to half less than 10 hours after I took it off the charger. I know that things like auto-sync and looking at the display will run down the battery, but I was expecting more than one or two days from the battery when it is supposed to last up to 2 weeks. I would also like to be able to track my sleep instead of charging it while I sleep. I thought I would check here first since it is too late to call customer service for tonight.

After reading some other posts on here, I'm going to turn off the all-day sync. Other suggestions still welcome!

Hello there, @RikkiA! Welcome to the Forums! You have come to the right place. Heart As you said the auto sync and checking your display a little too much can cause the battery to drain faster. I suggest you to charge it just for 2 hours and not 8 hours, this is too much and can cause the battery issues. After you charge it for a couple of ours, do you see a full battery on your display? If you don't or if it drains too fast, please perform a restart on  your tracker and then try again.

I hope this helps, let me know! 🙂

Since then I have been doing daily charges while I get ready in the morning so it is no longer than about an hour, but even without the auto-sync on, I am down half a charge by the following morning. I have been planning on restarting but anytime I think about doing it the computer is occupied. As a comparison, my son has been using a hand-me-down from a friend who couldn't keep it charged, with the same settings, and his lasts 3 or 4 days with a full charge. I will do the restart and report back.

I did the restart but I still have not been able to get more than 2 or 3 days on a tracker less than a month old. And this was with restarts after charging. I talked to customer service this morning and she was fabulous. I was told to contact Amazon for a return and replacement but to not hesitate to get back in touch with Fitbit if I had problems with the replacement. I just did that this morning.

As I was digging around the forums again just now, I happened to see something about if the tracker said 6.60 upon restart to contact customer service. What did that mean? I'm assuming I'll be ok once I get the new one. But, the One my son has that is a hand-me-down from a friend says the same thing upon restart but his is working just fine and holding a charge better to boot.

Hello, @RikkiA! Thanks for the updates! How did it go with Amazon? Do you have a new tracker now?

When you see the 6.60 that is the firmware version of your tracker, and it means that it has been restarted.

Keep me updated please! 🙂
