Could it be, I don't know, that Fitbit does not want to continue producing an item that is not blatantly displayed; therefore,  not advertising their product?  That's kind of how it feels and seems pretty cheesy.

Right.  Totally my point.  Since we wear it inconspicuously, no one sees it like they would on our wrist.  No publicity for Fitbit.
