I received a Fitbit One as a present and have been trying unsuccessfully for hours to get it set up. The Fitbit is not found during the setup process and the icon in the toolbar shows that it is unplugged, even though it is plugged in (and charging).
I should add that the dongle is plugged in and I have tried running setup both with and with the little USB transitter thingie plugged in.
The Fitbit does not show up on my dashboard ("no paired devices") so I can't use it at all.
Is there a way around this?

Did you have an Ultra before? Im asking because the screen shot above says to place the unit on the Base Station. The Ultra is the only one that had a Base station.
Either way I think you have downloaded the wrong software to your computer to install it.
I would removed by un-install and then look for the correct one to install and download it and try again.
