Step Count Different from One and Alta HR

My Fitbit One records more steps through my day than my new Alta HR. I only get about half the step count with the Alta than I did with One for the exact same activity. Anyone know why?

If you can hold handrail with one (non-fitbit) arm, that would work.

Or could just put the Alta HR in a pocket or clipped onto clothes somehow when on treadmill; should get steps then but lose heart rate data.

If you were using treadmill and holding hand rail, steps with tracker on wrist are generally not detected because the arm is not swinging.  The same goes for pushing shopping cart or baby carriage.

That does makes sense. I do hold the handrail because I sometimes have balance issues. (I'm 72) I wore my One on my body. Maybe I should switch back to the One for treadmill? Can you have 2 active Fitbits?
