Steps Accuracy with Fitbit One

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I have some questions about my one. Already contacted Fitbit, but thought I'd ask here too. I love my one, but doesn't count steps accurately. I know this because I had my one daughter wear it the same length of the house. The only way I get it to do it accurately is to use my urban rebounder or air climber. I probably step at least twice what my goal is because I take care of my total care child and we go to several large hospitals. Also, I walk with a limp. Could this be why it doesn't register accurately. One last thing, I did purchase (not received yet) a pouch where you can wear it on your shoe, because I lost it. It fell into my slipper, and it counted those steps accurately. Oh, it fell out of sleeping wrap (so be cautious of this).

@Jjdaughters Welcome to the Fitbit Community! There are several spots in which you can use your Fitbit One.

  1. In your pocket
  2. Clipped on your pocket facing inward
  3. Clipped on your bra
  4. Clipped on your belt
  5. Clipped on other external piece of clothing

Make sure to wear it with the display facing outward. Fitbit don't actually recommend using the tracker on your ankle or shoe. I'd recommend trying to use it on every spot Fitbit recommends and check which one will give more accurate data.

Also, if you feel it is the tracker the one that is not accurate at all; restart it to fix!

Hi @JjdaughtersSmiley LOL In addition to @SantiR's post, your Fitbit one uses accelerometers to understand your motions. An accelerometer is a device that turns movement (acceleration) of a body into digital measurements (data) when attached to the body. However, I also recommend to update the Fitbit app to the latest version by:

1. Open the Google Play store on your device.
2. Tap the menu button.
3. Tap My Apps and choose the Fitbit app and Tap Update (If you want automatic updates in the future, check the Allow automatic updating box)

and also adjust your Stride Length by following the steps on this post: "What is the best way to adjust my stride"

Let me know how it goes, I'll be around! Smiley Wink

I've tried going to my dashboard. There is no gear selection. I did, however, reduce my height 1" to allow for limp. I don't know if that will work. We'll see.
Thanks
