Steps Recording while riding mower

I've read posts saying you can eliminate extra steps counted while riding in a car by making an exercise called "driving".  I tried doing this for my mowing time, and I did name it "driving".  No steps were removed during the time I mowed.  So, what?  I just have to remember to remove the One while mowing, or is there something else I can do for when I forget to remove it?

The driving activity should remove the steps but the process is a bit quirky. When you go to log the activity you start typing in "driving" in the search box but you have to select "driving" from the pop up list. If, instead, you hit enter you are creating a custom activity rather than selecting a predefined activity and custom activities do not delete steps even if you rename them.

Thank you.  I'll try your suggestion.  I was typing driving in as a custom activity.  Have a great day!
