I and my wife have had the same problem since 2.34 a couple of days ago. From a suggestion I found on google, I powered off my iPhone and then restarted it. When I then ran the fitbit app, it looked like it was loading quite a bit (maybe acutally downloading the ver 2.34 app at that time). It took maybe 15-20 seconds with a reassuring progress bar. From that point on everything was OK.
Best AnswerI've had the same problem with the new update for the IPad version. I've rebooted the iPad, turned the blue tooth on and off, deleted the app and now I'm in the garage away from other blue tooth devices. It is always annoying when a new update doesn't work.

Yes, It's hard to believe fitbit did much QA on this release. At least they should have told us of any need to reset/reboot, etc.
