Hi
Today my Fitbit has registered over 30000 steps which I have not done. I am hoping at midnight it will right itself, but has anyone had this problem and know how to sort it?

Sounds like a technical 'burp.'  It will probably right itself at midnight, but to help things along you should restart it.  Here is the procedure:

  1. Plug your charging cable into your computer.
  2. Plug your Fitbit One™ tracker into the charging cable, making sure that the gold contacts on your tracker align with the gold contacts in the inside of the charger.
  3. Hold down your tracker's button for 10-12 seconds (until you see the version number display).
  4. Remove your tracker from the charging cable.

You can remove the extra 30K steps you got today be entering a driving activity during the time they were accumulated (which you can figure out by looking at your activity for the day -- delete the time period where all the big step spikes are located).

Hope that all helps.  Let us know.

Welcome aboard to our Community @Siestatime. I wonder if the steps shared by @Baltoscott has resolved the issue? I'm pretty sure everything is okay but I just want to give follow up with you.

I'll be here if you need some additional assistance.

So when this happened to me earlier this year Fitbit said they did not know how to fix it, I had 100,000 steps in one day. I am very disappointed in FItBit for not alerting me as to a solution. Al of my data from that point on is eroneous, badges are wrong, total steps, miles.
Is there a fix for this

Hello @PattyAnnStew, I'm really sorry that you didn't have a solution back then. It sounds weird as our support team are well prepare to handle this type of situations. Beside there is the option to remove steps or floors incorrectly recorded, however it wont remove badges.

This is not a short term solution, but there has been requested by other user this option to remove other data that was not precisely recorded doing exercises. If is of your interest you can share your vote and add your comment to make more popular this idea:  Remove unearned step and floor badges

See you around and hope you share your valuable support for this idea to be implemented on a near future.
