Tracking excersise with Fitbit one

Hi all! I'm new to the Fitbit community but just have a few questions regarding the excersise log.

So I do some classes at the gym such as YOGA, ZUMBA and a few others. I wear my Fitbit one on my sports bra. My question is, should I manually input these classes/workouts? Or just press and the home button until the timer starts before my workout??

Second question; how do you know when you should manually input or automatically use your tracker?

Third question; if you automatically use the tracker (click and hold the button) will the excersise still show up under the weekly excersise icon in the dashboard??

Thanks!

Welcome aboard @jennapyke23 I'm glad to see you in the Community!

Regarding the exercises logs it really depends on everyone's usage but I would say as a rule of thumb that the best indicator is steps.

What I mean with this is that for exercises where you do not perform that many steps or where steps are not the best indicator like Yoga in your case, it is best to log the activity manually. The movements recorded with the tracker will not be enough to give you an idea of you calorie burn.

With Zumba on the other hand you do a lot of movements that will be recorded by the One, in which case pressing the button to log the activity will work just fine. Just remember to rename the log after you sync your device.

For the weekly exercise It should reflect all of the activity logged in your exercise history, this would include activities recorded with the button.

My recommendation is to try out both methods to log the activities and choose the one best fitted for each of them.

Let me know if you have any more questions

Hello thank you for your reply.
Will the activity show up on my fit bit dashboard on my phone when I sync it? Or the desktop one? If I use the button on my one to track the activity?

Thanks Jenna

@jennapyke23 hello again! Actually your activity information is saved for your account. You can access it trough both your PC or your phone. As long as you sync.

@jennapyke23 no problem that's what the Community is here for, helping each other.

To check on your activity journal on the app just open the app and scroll down until the "track your exercise" tile appears.

Click on it and a list of all of your activities will appear as well as your weekly activity goal progress.

Hope this help make things a little bit clearer.

Untill next time!
