Tracking exercise increases steps = why?

I could be doing this wrong, but when I do a fitness walk, I check my app to see the total number of steps and the activity minutes.  I then go into the exercise tracker and mark that I've done a walk, for the correct time (over an hour), and log the miles I walked.   I save this and then go back into the main menu, and find that my steps have increased!  Even though they were exactly what was on the one before I took the minute to log. For instance, this morning the steps were 7,776;  I logged the walk, saved it; steps were now 8,948.  I was sitting at my desk!   This has been happening for some time.   BTW -doing this takes my active minutes back to -0- (were 67, now 0).  Any ideas?

You sould not being adding the walk. Fitbit already did it for you.

Thats why you are increasing the steps.
