Have followed all of the steps below....rebooted my PC & phone, unistalled & reinstalled, rebooted the Fitbit One but still not working. My PC isn't even picking the Fitbit up now to synch. Starting to get really frustrated as this has taken several hours today. Any ideas of what to do with my Christmas present gratefully received

It sounds like you have tried all the normal troubleshooting steps!
I do understand that the fitbit restart procedure doesn't always work so it's worth trying that again a couple of times:

If it's still not working after that then I can only suggest getting in contact with customer support:
