I walked 1709 steps in 15 minutes and it registered as intense activity and the next 15 minutes I walked 1708 steps and it registered as moderate activity this doesn't make sense.

Hi @232. Your Fitbit One measures the intensity of your walk minute-by-minute. So if the two-fifteen minutes walks were of the same intensity, one would expect that the Fitbit algorithm would indeed render the same metrics for an equal number of steps.

Did you use the button on the side of your One to start and stop the timer at the start and end of each walk? If not, perhaps you can repeat your test, using the fimer functionality. If you get similar results as you described in your post, please come back here and post screen grabs of the two walks depicting the pace graphs for each.
