manually logging exercises

i manually logged circuit training i did for 20mins, & when i went into the details of the activity i don't understand something,

it said i burned 153 calories but when i looked at my calories burned before i added the exercise & then looked at the calories burned after i added the exercise it hadn't added 153 calories to the final total?

also in the details of the activity i added manually what is the impact of the day section?

so if i get this right now i understand -  today i just did a 20min walk and logged it manually as a walk, when i finished my walk before i synced my fitbit it had 2913steps logged & 1050cals and after i logged the walk manually my fitbit says 2914 steps & 1054cals , so the fitbit has recognised i logged a walk manually and has taken the logged walk details and overwritten what the fitbit tracked while i was on my walk so it doesn't double count anything? is that right?

i like to log my walk manually cos it's separate exercise not just routine steps through the normal day, so i like to see how many steps & calories burned for that specific walk & i like to see i have exercised on the exercise tile in the fitbit app which u cannot see if u start & stop activity mode on your fitbit , u can only see the activity on fitbit.com dashboard and it doesn't count towards my exercise of the day if i dont log the walk manually

@Claire22You are correct there is no doubling up and everything is overwritten. The downside is that any manually entered steps/distance don't go towards Badges, Lifetime Achievements or Challenges. They will show on your Dashboard except Lifetime totals.

The solution is to use the Activity Record which is a copy of your time period of the Activity. Downside, it doesn't show in the Exercise Tile. But you have documented your activity.

Edited and added...,...Using the button on the One achieves the same result and you can edit the record to document and if you forget to stop the activity you can go and change the "end time", again no Exercise in the Tile.

@Claire22 Unfortunately there is no way to do that. You have probably noticed when you put distance in the field, hoping it will convert to steps, you get N/A in your steps.

I use the Custom Activity to examine my sleeping HR with the Blaze. Doing that you get a plot that shows about 20bpm/minute. If you use that method during activity periods it flatlines the calories and you could lose Active Minutes..

@Claire22 I use the One every day to keep the Blaze honest and if there is a significant drop in steps on the Blaze I will add a manual activity. That also gives me the incentive to earn the same number of steps to not jeopardise a daily goal Challenge.
