How is my fitbit tracking floors when I am not climbing floors? I have not climbed hills nor stairs, but fitbit is registering floors.

Wind and cold will effect the floor count. Bumpy rides will also effect it

Thanks for your reply. I live in flatlands & temps here are in the high 80s & low 90s. I haven't left my house today and already logged 2 floors. ??

It is probably fine.
As @WendyB said, weather changes can affect the count. The built-in altimeter senses changes in barometric pressure which occurs as weather fronts move through the area (and is one reason the wind blows). I doesn't matter if you are inside or outside your house, just whether you are moving as the barometric pressure changes. It usually doesn't amount to much, but sometimes people have reported significant floor counts in a few minutes. If this keeps happening, you can try restarting your tracker several times. (plug in and hold down button for 10 seconds or so. You should see the firmware version on screen if the restart was successful).
Hope that helps.

I've had my Fitbit for about 4-1/2 years. It never correctly tracked floors that I could tell. However, in the past week or two it has started logging huge amounts of floors (60-70) each day. ?? Guess I'll try restarting it and see if that helps. (Aside...pain in the neck to restart it as you need a laptop/computer. It's about the only time I even start my laptop as I mostly use my iPad these days.)
