Hi. When I try to log a period: with a start time and duration in minutes and put in 'driving', and then click 'log it' it says 'please enter an activity type' - ie. doesn't recognise driving as a valid activity... 😕
I found this advice, for example - but it won't work on my app, because it won't accept 'driving'. And I tried to see if I can add it as an 'official' activity by going into the Device settings, but it only allows my to choose from a set list, not including 'driving'... https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/1306
I want to be able to do this so as to assign a period of time to 'driving' if for example, I have been on my scooter and see it has logged steps or floors that I have not done.

When adding any event, lets use driving as an example.
- Go to the manual event add screen
- Start typing "Driving"
- You will see a pop up with 5h the word "Driving"
- You must tap or click on this pop up, this will load the data needed for driving.
- Typing in the word driving without tapping on the popup will be tr3ated as an unkown type of event.
Hope this helps.
A second way is to use the workout mode, start and stop wh3n getting in and out of the car. Aft3r a sync these can be renamed to driving, but you must still tap on the popup.
A third way would be to download an app like Drivebit or Travelbit, once started these will automatically log the driving time. These are both only for android

Does this work on the website dashboard?
Which app are you using?

OK thanks, since I had only been using the Android app and the fitbit, I didn't know I can also manage things on the website, which is where I can log driving. I've got it now.

Hello I am trying to use this solution but I cannot figure out how to do it properly. When I type in driving under custom activity, nothing pops up so I'm incredibly confused and frustrated because my charge 2 has been counting about 400 steps every time I drive my E-Bike.

Awesome Rich. Thanks. Hey Nat was driving me (no pun intended) nuts. For those that are reading the replies. It is the 3rd “driving” Dow on the list. The only one with a calorie count.

Clicking on the activity type did not resolve the "Please enter an activity type." error message. The fact this is still a problem so far after discover is a bad refection on Fit Bit. The entry was in a new install of on an android phone device with the latest android update not more than a few days old. 😞

When I type D, or Dr, or Dri, or any amount of letters in the word Driving, nothing is suggested to me so I can click on it.... If I create the Driving Activity anyway, it still count steps...

Yeah, I'm thinking that somehow this "feature" was changed or removed so it no longer appears or works as a "workaround". I'm still looking for some other way to accomplish this since I have a number of activities every day that seem to "count" steps and/or distance that obviously shouldn't be.

Still works @realon
Before, add driving, after
A user needs to tap on the drop down "Driving"
Yes, since your tracker dies not look at the movement of the feet, being on the arm, the tracker looks at arm movements.
Yes, there will be a few activities that count as steps, and there will be steps lost throughout the day, simply because the arm is not moving in a way that the tracker knows the feet are moving.
It all averages out over the week/month.

@Rich_Laue Gotcha, and thanks. My problem was in finding the "manual event add screen" that you originally mentioned. Effectively, inside the Android app, it was simply a matter of clicking the "+" button under the "exercise" list on the "today" tab. I simply didn't know where that was to be found. And for whatever reason, I haven't found a similar place to do it on the website itself.

@realon it can be done on the website.
Hoover the mouse over the exercise tile and click show more.
Tap the add.
