Today I have noticed that my charge 2 has done steps but I have been asleep for the last 8 hours and not worn it. How do I get it to revert back to zero?

Welcome to the Forums @Samsel.
Thanks for bringing this up. Let me help you figure out what is going on. I will be moving your thread to the Charge 2 board as I think it is better suited for it.
In this case I'd like to recommend that you try to follow the steps listed in this help article. They talk about how to delete steps from your account in case they were incorrectly logged.
As for why this happened, could you let me know where your Charge 2 spent the night? It could shed some light into why steps were counted.
Let me know if you have any further questions.

Hello @Samsel.
Thanks for letting me know that it is on the bedside table.
Has this continued to happen since?
Do you sleep with an open window or with a fan? If a draft of air hits the Fitbit then it could make it believe that you are wearing it and moving around and thus it counts steps like it did.
Look forward to your reply.
