Charge 2 screen blackout

I am hoping someone can help with my issue.  I have a Charge 2 that I’ve had for maybe 2-3 years now.  I’m hoping not to have to buy a replacement just yet, as I’m a single mum (by choice) and had to leave my job after becoming a mum as the 24:7 cover hours no longer worked for me.  I also have a Flex and a Flex 2, but they don’t have the time, I have a watch but it needs a relatively expensive battery replacement, as pressure testing is not done in this town.

So the problem is this.  My Fitbit screen went blank, so I assumed I needed to charge it as it had been a few days.  I then charged my Fitbit fully, pressed the button, and it said the battery was full.  So I removed it from the charger.  It showed the normal screen.  I looked at it for the time a little later and it was blank again.  I could get no response by pressing the button.  I plugged it into the charger again, it showed the Fitbit logo and version screen. I did a soft reset after that, holding button for a few seconds until logo and version appeared. Charged it until battery full, didn’t take long.  Took it off, flashed battery empty, then screen went blank again.  I then tried a factory reset as I’d read online, but as this requires unplugging it after two seconds, it proved impossible, as screen quickly went blank again thus foiling the rest of the process.  I refer to the process detailed online (Business Insider website) in which you need to be seeing the words “alt” and “erase” on the screen.  Note that I’ve since read this forum and found there isn’t such a procedure that works for Charge 2, factory reset is obtained by simply removing the Fitbit from your account.

I then plugged it into my computer as I’ve read this is the gold standard method of charging, and called up the dashboard on the internet.  Even after I unplugged it, and it had flashed low battery, it still said that it had a full battery on the dashboard.

I did recently change my device that I am synching it with.   I was synching on an ancient iPhone, but am constantly running out of storage, and so the Fitbit app drops off.  I had not synched my Fitbit for quite some time, maybe a month.  So when I won a Samsung tablet, I transferred the Fitbit app to that instead.  So perhaps there’s something there that’s causing an issue?  I did have a lot of problems trying to connect my Fitbit to the tablet to start with I remember.  It did not want to connect via Bluetooth at all.  I’m not even sure I resolved that.  It connects through the app, but I’m not sure it’s on the list of Bluetooth connections.

Please could someone help me. I’m inspired to solve my issue after I recently resolved a synching issue with Charge 2 for someone on these forums who’d never been able to synch with their phone.
