Charge 3 display too dim

Hi, My eyes may well be getting slowly getting worse with age, but I noticed that over the past few weeks that I'm really struggling to see the screen when outside. Even sitting here now typing inside in the relative dark, the screen seems much dimmer than it used to be. I've been on settings and chosen 'normal' as 'auto' and 'dim' almost seem to turn the screen dark it might as well be off!

Having read a few posts it seems unlikely that there is any way of making it any brighter, but is it normal to expect the display to dim with age? I've really liked the Charge 3 and would hate to have to get something else, but if i can't see it, I will have little choice. Does anyone know if the Charge 4 is any brighter?
