Charge 3 randomly stops tracking exercises

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Recently my charge 3 has been switching an activity tracking off during the activity. The syncing repeatedly goes on and off, i have a samung s7, and also today stopped recording a run after 5 mins. Anyone got any advice or suffered simular problems. Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome on board @chunkygreen! Thanks for reporting to us about your Charge 3's behavior during your activities.

I'd recommend trying to restart your device by following the steps at: How do I restart my Fitbit device?. If the restart does not work, try to manually reboot your Charge 3. From the clock face, swipe to Settings and tap Reboot Device

Give this a go and let me know the outcome.

Thanks Marie for the advice. Done as you suggested and got some improvement. From about 2k into the run it kept vibrating ever few seconds until I actually finished. The sync seems to have dropped out a couple of times as well and it seems to have stopped a few meters from where I actually finished. I'm going to try a gps reset on my phone and uninstall and reinstall of the fitbit app to see if this has any improvement still, but at least it seems to cover most of my run.

Hello there @chunkygreen! I'm glad to hear you have gotten some improvement. Robot wink

Let me know if you try resetting the GPS on your phone to see the results and see if that improves even more.

I'll be here, keep me in the loop.

Hello Maria,

Still having issues keeping an accurate track of my runs.

https://www.fitbit.com/activities/exercise/22906612337

This was my last run. The start and finish point are not in the correct place and there's a big chunk from about 2k to 3.5k where it's not recorded it properly and a lot of the rest isn't particularly accurate. I've had a few runs since our last correspondence and these results have been standard in all of them.

The phones sensors are working as they should, recalibrated twice, and gps is set up for high accuracy. Also the watch and phone are no more than 30cm apart during any of my activity. Not sure what else I can do to improve things. Thanks for the help you've given and if you've got any more ideas please let me know.

Regards Samuel

I have the same problem.  Suddenly my Charge 3 randomly turns off my exercise tracking.  I have to keep turning it back on, so I have like 5 or 6 different reports for one round of exercise (spinning).  I tried resetting it, and basically doing all the things that were suggested so I'll see if it helped.  Also my heart rate stops reading on the watch during exercise tracking and that seems to correlate with the tracking turning off on its own.   These fitbits seem to be really finicky.

Hi, I tried a restart from the cradle and a reboot from the clock face, but my charge 3 still stops tracking a walk.  Other exercises are recorded OK, e.g. aerobics this morning.  This is already a replacement because my original charge three stopped vibrating.  Is there anything else I can try?  Thanks

Hi there,

I know it's been over a year for you, but did you ever get a resolution for this?  Mine has been acting up for 6-months now (my thread is here … https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Charge-3/Charge-3-loses-Bluetooth-connection-mid-run-and-even-stops-...) and I am not getting anywhere with Fitbit support at the moment.

Thanks

Hi, I only posted about this tracking issue today. I went on a walk this
evening, and it seemed to track fine. However, with a vibrating issue
people told me to try a long restart, maybe that could work? When in
cradle, hold button for 15secs until progress bar shows up.

Sorry, I thought I was replying to the original poster. I’ve tried the cradle reset and that worked for one run.

Back to the drawing board I guess.
