I keep getting credit for stairs when I have not climbed any. For instance today it says i did 14 flights of stairs and i have not. I have been walking inside my home and my home does not have stairs. On my last Fitbit Charge 2 unless i went up stairs i did not get credit for any. I have been getting stairs since i started using the Charge 3.

How Floors how counted

Floors are counted using an altimeter. An altimeter is a sensor that calculates altitude based on atmospheric pressure and atmospheric pressure decreases with increasing elevation, so the it calculates elevation gain based on the reduction in atmospheric pressure. Your trackers register a floor when they detect continuous motion combined with an elevation gain of about 10 feet. Given the fact that 10 feet is an average between residential and commercial floor heights, although commercial floors in particular tend to be higher than residential floors.

It will add floors when it is windy or cold.

So this is a problem with the charge 3 as I am constantly showing stairs climbed when I didn’t climb any but just walked 4 1/2 miles.🙁

i loved my charge 2 as that was not a problem on it. ❤️ I would go back to the charge 2 any day.

Has anyone been able to rectify this issue?  I've done about 10 flights of stairs today, but my Charge 3 says I have done 121.  It's not even close to correct.

I’ve read through most of the comments and advice/links. Straight answer please… I had a Fitbit charge 2… worked fine until the sceen went down. I’ve inherited off the daughter Fitbit charge 3. My god I’m glad I didn’t pay. I’ve done over 200 stairs a day since I’ve started using it over the last few weeks. Why??? Give an honest answer. I’ve not moved. Manchester has not risen in height. I do the same job. Same arm. Is it just guess work ??
