Charge 3 registering extra steps

My Charge 3 goes off that I have hit my 10,000 step goal for the day when I know I am only at approximately 7,500 steps. Then, with each step it goes up 100 steps. My display has read up to 25k steps. I have to sync it up with the app to correct the issue but it started happening every day. How do I fix this so it tracks my steps properly? I’ve only had it for about a year??
