Combining data from tracking with data from my device

I did a trial walk today using both my Charge 2 and the tracking option on my phone's fitbit app. This was to see if I could map my walks/runs without needing access to mobile data. Both worked fine, BUT when I synchronised my Charge with the app, Fitbit couldn't detect that the 2 walks were one and the same. It managed to include the heartrate data with the tracked map though. Not very intelligent..

Accepted Solutions

My Charge 2 does not need internet access, some day that they need internet to get this to work then internet can be dropped. The Charge 2 connects to your phones GPS unit and uses this to record the party.

What is not intelligent here. @Chriswallace

You used two separate devices to track your walk, the Charge 2 and the Fitbit App. Both recorded a map of the route .

As for being smart, Fitbit doesn't  double the steps to your days activity for this time.

When using the app to record the walk, if the Charge 2 is being worn, heart rate and steps from the tracker will be added.

Thanks for input. But my Charge 2 didn't record a map of my route - I was purposedly not accessing mobile data on my walk.

I wanted to map the route using tracker  GPS and record the heart rate etc using the Fitbit Charge 2. I was hoping that somehow Fitbit would figure out that the 2 recordings were for the same walk. Didn't happen.

And Fitbit did double my steps.

But no problem - I'll use Strava to map my route and it will upload my heart rate data once I get back from run/walk and synchronise my device and Fitbit app.

You did say you used both the Fitbit app and the Charge 2 to record your walk.

Mobile data is not used by the Charge 2 or the Fitbit app for recording maps

If both worked fine you should have seen two maps, one recorded by the Fitbit app and the second by the Charge 2

The tracker GPS would be the Charge 2.

Fitbit said that the user used 2 ways to record the walk, there must be a reason and displays what the user has requested.

Check the days totals, delete one of the events and see if the days steps decrease.

If course the eat thing to do is use the Charge 2 or the Doobie app to record the run.

Charge 2 needs to use either wifi or mobile data to record a map, and have Bluetooth activated. With mobile data turned off on my phone, no map. Charge 2 itself has no GPS tracker.

But as I said, I found a solution, so its OK. Thanks for the input. Have a good day.

Thanks for that info. Nobody ever told me (not the manual and not the help forum not the shop I bought it from) that I only needed internet access long enough to connect the Charge 2 to my phone's GPS. Then it works without.

I just tried it and it works. 😆😆

I'm not sure why or if it is only with one type of OS but some have reported that this is the case. I have tried a few times with internet of and haven't had an issue. With unlimited internet and hotspot, what do I care.
