Deteriorating accuracy

Over the past several months I’ve noticed increasing inaccuracy in measurements. One night I needed a few steps to hit my goal; I walked a 26-foot room several times; not a single step recorded. Of late, despite wearing it same as always, it’s unable to track my sleep. One night it reported 3 hours sleep when I slept 7. It’s missed three or four days just in the past two weeks. Is there planned obsolescence built in, or is this ploy to upgrade?
