Device recording steps when not using it

I stopped wearing my Fitbit because the wristband frequently breaks away from the watch, and it's not worth the hassle of trying to find the watch and reconnecting it

 

However, this week the app started logging steps.  Lots of steps.  For a Fitbit that doesn't move.

 

Has anyone else had this experience?

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. To better assist you with this step issue, can you please let me know when was the first time you noticed such behavior and how many times since then? What's the average amount of steps that are being logged? If you haven't already done so, please restart your device.
