Hello!!
I have a charge 3 which is only about 4-5 months old and I am using an iPhone. It used to track my exercise and corresponding active minutes when I would run, however, I’ve begun doing more HIIT exercises, and the exercise is no longer being auto-recognized. I have the duration settings for all auto-recognized exercises set to 15 minutes, and always exercise for longer than 15 minutes. I have tried changing this setting to see if that fixes the issue, but it has not.
If I manually enter my exercises, it adds the duration to my active minutes, which are already accurate. Example: I worked out for 35 minutes and my charge 3 recorded 35 active minutes, but did not record any exercise. When I manually enter the exercise, this increases my active minutes by another 35 minutes and increases my # calories burned.
The only difference I have noticed is running involves steps, and the step counter goes up, whereas HIIT does not have steps.
I have tried rebooting the device and fiddling with various settings for weeks, but cannot find a solution. I have found other posts reporting the same issues, but haven’t found solutions which work for me. It is disappointing to get to the weekly report and see none of my exercises counted.

HIIT is not one of the auto-recognized activities.
The best way to track it is via the Exercise App. From clock face scroll right (swipe left) to 'Exercise'; tap that, then scroll left or right to desired exercise type; if desired option is not there, you can choose from 20 options to appear in the Exercise Shortcut list. You would probably want 'Interval Workout' or even just 'Workout'.
To see the available choices and how to add them to the Exercise Shortcut list, see the first few sections of
