Fitbit Charge 2 wont sync with Windows 7

Hello I went to my dashboard this morning to check some data it said the last sync was the night before at 6pm. The watch and data on windows7 for the watch updated to the latest there is and now it wont auto sync. Ive closed it and reset the watch many times and rebooted a few times and unplugged the usb dongle and put it back in and no matter what I have to click on the icon in the task bar and go to sync to get it to sync. And that always doesnt work after 5 mins of trying to detect my device, just once in awhile it connects and syncs and the watch and dongle are no less than 2 ft away from each other. Ive force quit the apps and restarted them and reset the the watch. Anyone know whats going on here? will it might work again if I install the old software for the watch? Im thinking it wont since the watch itself updated for like 10 mins with a line going across the screen. Thanks for any info.

Thanks for stopping by @Steverikk, hope you're doing good today! Hmmm... I'm sure that this syncing issue is due to you're running Windows 7.

Beginning on April 28, 2016 the Fitbit app for Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 are no longer available for download. Customers who already have the app can continue to use it, but the app doesn't support our new trackers such as Fitbit Alta, Blaze, Charge 2, and Flex 2.

I'd recommend using our redesigned and enhanced Fitbit app for Windows 10 after upgrading your PC, tablet, or mobile device to Windows 10.

In case you have a mobile device that is included in the list of supported ones, you set up your tracker with it. And keep in mind that you can use fitbit.com to see your stats on a Windows 7, 8, or 8.1. PC but not sync with it.

hat a load of crap, so fitbit are insisting that i upgrade to windows 10 probanly because they are getting a backhander from microsoft, if i cannot sync my fitbit i want my money back, i will not be forced into paying for windows 10 to suit these rip off merchants, i would sooner throw my fitbit in the bin and get a different tracker.

You can still download the official "Fitbit Connect" utility for Windows 7 if you visit https://www.fitbit.com/setup?platform=win and click the "Download For Windows" button. At the moment, it will give you Fitbit Connect version 2.0.2.7066, with a release date of July 25, 2018.

I just tried using that utility to sync my Charge 2 using the official Fitbit wireless USB dongle, in an attempt to reproduce your report. Everything worked properly for me.

(Full disclosure: I ran my test on a Windows 10 PC. However, I was absolutely certain that the PC I tested with does NOT have the Windows 10 app installed; it was definitely running the classic Fitbit Connect application, and when it gave me a nag screen asking me to switch to the Windows 10 app instead I dismissed the message box and proceeded to use the classic Fitbit Connect application.)

Edit 2: I only tested manual syncing. I don't intend to use this setup long-term, so I doubt it'll be left configured this way for long enough to test automatic syncing.
