Hi Folks,
How go I shut off the step notifications all together? And the associated badges? I am trying to use the Fitbit to track my cycling, my swimming (entered manually), my HR @ rest, and pretty much that's it. I tried setting the steps goal to zero but the app will have none of that. I don't see anywhere in the notifications where I can shut it off. I cycle anywhere from 80-100 miles per week and I swim lots of laps so I just don't care about the steps. It's annoying as all hell.

You can stop some under notifications. But Fitbit is step based. Why buy it if you dont care about steps?

Yes, I looked under notifications and there's nowhere to do this. That's pretty silly.
I bought it because I want to track my bike rides and heart rate, which is does great. Never heard the term "step based." Is that a thing?
Anyway--anyone know if I can turn off the step notifications?

You can make the step goal so high that it will never be reached. This will not stop the step badges.
If your only worried about miles, then Strava might be a better choice.

I tried that too but I keep getting reminded that I need to go nnnn steps to my goal.
I use Strava. That's where I push my fitbit data to through the API. There are some views of data that fitbit has and some that strava has so it's nice to be able to access both. Strava is a place to dump and view your data. You still need to collect the data which is what I am using the fitbit for.
So, bottom line. If I keep the fitbit I'm stuck with the nagging step notifications?
Okay, well, I was looking at the Suunto Amit3 Peak. Maybe I'll check that out and see what kind of data views they have.
Thanks, all.

Go to fitbit app on the phone.
Tap your profile and then your device
Under general you will see "Reminders to Move"
Tap that and turn off.
