Instructions and correct usage in the instruction sheet

I lost my warranty because I put the Charge 3 between my sock and ankle/heel indent, above my shoe, for better readings while on a bike. My arm was not moving enough to register movement. I was informed that the units are only worn on the wrist. That goes along with the very first Fitbit I had and swam with.. not water proof. Nice

@rokut100  these devices are wrist based and the user manual and related articles do mention that, plus they have illustrations. The warranty information clearly says what invalidates it. If you use a different strap or charger unit, you risk having a problem, too. Sorry this happened to you.

Every Fitbit I have ever worn has its little instruction sheet in the box.. I actually read the silly thing. BUT some how I manage to find a way to actually void the unit, just by being active. Why in the world would "avoid" happen just because ya buy an aftermarket band strap made out of rubber or woven nylon, when you go to research for a factory replacement band you get led to a page with hundreds of different manufacturers ?  Why would a void happen when exercising, a puddle of sweat gets under the band and isn't instantly wiped off ?  An exercise device is suppose to just read the skin reaction or just under the skin reaction for status and motion to determine distance.. so you can wear gloves while cycling is OK (but your arm doesn't move enough to activate the motion detector) but if you put it on/around your ankle (protected by sock and notch by heel ankle and shoe top) its void ?  Well, some defiantly say they are not waterproof, some don't even say water resistant.  Ya, the warranty "void-ness" is subject to a mile wide and 100 ft deep subjective evaluation !  If you exercise and don't get some sort of wet and don't some how jar up against something, or cover but not too tight to protect it... ????  Ha, something is wrong somewhere !! AND after all that, I still think the units are pretty great.. go figure !!
