Had the Fitbit for approx two years, no problems walk and swim with it.
today it wouldn’t refresh or synch, so decided to take it off the phone Bluetooth and reconnect it- the phone acknowledges it found the tracker but cant connect now any ideas

Are you sure you only removed it from the phones bluetooth? If so, then open the Fitbit app and let it sync.
Removing from the phones bluetooth is one one of the steps to try with a sync issue.
You should not be able to reconnect through the phone.
Once you open the Fitbit app, the app will ask for permission to reconnect the tracker..
