I have an iPhone 11 Pro Max and a 13 pro max, both give different readings,

Midnight comes 00.00 ‘FB’ shows NIL, I lie on my back and air pedal x 50 NO steps.

So, I wave my arm up and down x 50 I get a reading of 63.
Maybe I should strap to my ankle, ANY arm movement like turning a page in a book it registers steps.
There’s a host of things you use your dominant hand for. ( YES, I Know)

Did I miss a question there?

As it seems you realize, nothing on your wrist truly knows what your legs are doing.  And some things your legs do, such as air pedaling, are not truly steps.

In some ways, heart rate based measurements such as calorie burn and zone measurements are better measurements, but we are used to step count from the older pedometers.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.
