I am finding that the recommended 250 steps for each hour for nine consecutive hours a bit disingenuous. Isn’t the purpose of this activity to avoid being sedentary? Yet when I am engaged in other activities like swimming or biking these actions aren’t counted in the activity cycle. I am not sedentary for the hours I am riding my bike. The only way I can manage this is to pause my bike ride and walk a bit and then unpause my tracker. Of course this also involves my finding a shady spot to be able to read the watch as in sunlight I can’t see the watch settings. Shouldn’t the fact that I am being active, which is the goal, count?

@SaratogaSarah Nice to see you around. Thank you for your message and feedback.
Usually the reminders to move (250 steps/hour) is thought for users that have a desk job. Mostly we forget to move a bit during working hours where we sit for long periods of time and are have our minds in other tasks.
You can always turn the reminders off, or set different hours to be reminded.
More about this can be found here: What's a Fitbit reminder to move?
Can I change when I receive reminders to move on my Fitbit device?
How do I turn reminders to move on or off on my Fitbit device?
