I recently started checking my iPhone Health app to count and compare steps during my walks. The FitBit freezes sometimes and I was curious if it catches up and adds steps later.
I'm shocked at what I discovered. The FitBit isn't counting accurately at all. On any given day, I have at least 500-1500 steps on my FitBit before I leave for my walk (with my iPhone). Even with the difference, my iPhone app shows more steps each and every time.
I've reset and re-started the FitBit a few times, to no avail.
Attached are screenshots to see the comparison.
Can someone help me figure out what's going on please? I rely on my FitBit to give me an accurate step count since I don't carry my phone on my at all times.

Do you always carry your iPhone with you, as the Fitbit on your wrist, or do you ever set it down?

Hi @JohnnyRow , during my walks the phone is with me 100% of the time. At home, it's not, which is why the discrepancy is alarming. Hope this answers your Q?

My point is that part of the reason Fitbit is showing more steps, i.e. iPhone showing fewer steps, is because iPhone is missing steps you are taking around home, which Fitbit is counting.

Thanks @JohnnyRow , that would make perfect sense. I'm not sure you can see the screenshots, but the iPhone is showing more steps than the FitBit despite the fact that I don't have it on me all the time.

You're right. I was thinking backwards.

@MattFitbit tagging you hoping you can help resolve this issue for me.
The FitBit isn't counting accurately compared to my iPhone. On any given day, I have at least 500-1500 steps on my FitBit before I leave for my walk (with my iPhone). Even with the difference, my iPhone app shows more steps each and every time. I've attached screenshots of the differences for several days in the original post. Thanks in advance for your help.

That's not that big of a difference. Phone in your pocket is also usually more accurate than a wrist based pedometer. Any chance health app is importing steps from fitbit?
