Inspire HR counting incorrect steps

My new Inspire HR is counting at least 1200 -1600 extra steps a day. I was hitting my step limit everyday but it didn’t feel like I was walking that much everyday. I started wearing my Zip and the step count was much lower but more accurate. I feel like the Inspire is counting my arm movement as steps.  Has anyone else found this problem? My friend mentioned the same thing seems to be true with her Charge.

It still is inaccurate with steps. I tried all the reset steps but no luck. My girlfriend upgraded her charge 3 to a charge 4 for the same reason and they are still way off. I am sorry I wasted the money.

Hello @Helensmurfette @Booklady112 , thank you for your replies and the feedback that you've provided about the accuracy of steps and sleep.

@Booklady112, unfortunately it is an expected device behavior at the moment for the device to count steps during a driving activity; currently  there's not a Driving Mode feature to avoid these erroneous steps, however, I do recommend that you vote for this idea posted in the Feature Suggestion board of the Community, this is helpful for the team of developers.

To delete the extra steps recorded, you would need to manually log the driving activity, to override data tracked during that period of time. As explained here

It is also possible that the device will count some steps while performing other activities, but the number should not be exaggerated. Remember the device tries to give you credit for all movements throughout the day.  You can find more information in this article

@Helensmurfette, regarding the accuracy of your sleep information, I've sent your information to the Customer Support team for further assistance with this, but was informed that you already have a case created or that you already got in touch with them.

Let me know if you have further questions.

If I had known it would record driving as steps I would not have purchased it! It makes no sense. The reason I bought it was to track my steps never did I know that it was going to track driving as steps. I actually think it tracks any arm movement as steps, like knitting or crocheting. I would have thought Fitbit would have corrected this problem as soon as it was reported.

Same here! My steps have been off since I purchased my Fitbit Inspire. I have tried everything to fix it. I give up. I haven't even gotten out of bed yet, and I have 25 steps. So.....yeah.Its a nice watch though. (She said with an eyeroll)

  • Sigh. Why? Why should I have to do that? And of course I did the restart procedure. I got it on May 7th, 2020. It has never been accurate from day one. It gives me credit for swimming when I haven't swam in at least a month. I wanted it for tracking my walking and running. My Smartphone does a better job. 🙄 And when comments on my having a Fitbit, I am quick to point out that it is supposed to be, but its actually just a watch for me, more or less. Total waste of my money.

I know how you feel! I drove home from the Outer Banks and had walked over 2000 steps while I was driving!  It is so inaccurate and basically just a watch! I wanted steps and miles not movement of any kind. If I had known this I never would have purchased it. A big waste of money!
