I bought a Fitbit Inspire yesterday. The steps are accurate when walking but I drove a 10 minute distance and it counted almost 500 steps. I know arm movements can accumulate some extra steps but This seems excessive. I have read about going into my log and logging the driving period to decrease those steps but I have just got a new job as a home carer so I will be in and out of my car all day I won’t have time to keep going in and logging the driving to delete the steps. If it’s going to log 500 steps for every short journey the Fitbit is no use at all as I will be in and out of my car driving for over 8 hours a day. I have set it to dominant hand even though I have it on my non dominant but does anyone else have any other suggestions please?

I bought an Inspire HR this week also. After using the Alta for several years, I have a good feeling for how many steps I take in a day. The Inspire is over counting a lot! It is accurate when walking but it counts continuously while driving and doing any arm movements. It is useless to me if it's not accurate! I'd appreciate guidance that doesn't involve going to the app and deleting activity - that's not a fix.

I am having the same issue!
I just opened my Inspire HR last night, charged it before bed. Woke up, got ready for work and got in the car on the Freeway for just over an hour and it started vibrating congratulating me on reaching 4,000 steps?? There is no way that's right. My last device was a Fitbit Charge 2 and I LOVED IT, never had this issue.
Watching the display it seemed to count almost double steps when my hands were on the steering wheel (which is legally where they're required to be) but if I held my arm in the air or on my lap the steps were still counted but the numbers were much slower. I also found that if I tap the screen or wiggle my hand lightly.. it counts a step.
All of the other posts describing this same issue have just been replied with a "Sorry you're having this problem but we swear we tested it!". Fitbit please give us an actual resolution. Restarting, changing hands, none of these temporary options are fixing the problem.

I bought my inspire hr last week and have noticed it counting extra steps, a lot of extra steps. I work on a farm and deliver to local businesses. Unmanaged to gain over a thousand steps this morning alone whilst driving!!! At this rate it's going back!!

Mine does this too. Fitbit, why does this happen and what is your response? This is bogus. I almost gave up on Fitbit when the support for the Fitbit Zip (which in my opinion was an almost perfect device - and one that did not count steps while I was driving) became so lousy. Then I took one more chance and tried the Inspire, only to find out that it counts a SIGNIFICANT number of steps while I'm driving. Geez.

Note to self.. when driving pick nose with the hand that is NOT attached to arm with Fitbit.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
